There’s been a falling out at St. Peter’s congregation The choir-master stated his simple resignation And it brought the choir In front of all the people Including the professor It was falling out at St. Peter’s congregation hall I’d remember more but I was only four feet tall The Reverend stepped out In all the choir-master’s shouts And went to the washroom With his microphone on And with that the congregation was left confessing They pretended not to notice, they pretended not to care But all the children in the front pews They knew the truth All the children in the front pews knew the truth There was a saddening up at St. Peter’s when the congregation left All of us kids talked about it in Sunday school class And we laughed the next day At school in the washroom And talked about what it was like to be And talked about what it was like to be free

Sockhop 03:53
I’m a bell-hop, Dancing around with bells on, And I’ve had a frown on for a long time, And I don’t know where the times gone to stay, And I’m happy, But I know that I’m not quite happy, To be on the dance floor, With left feet on but I’ll stay, And I’m round, Keep spinning and spinning around, And I think I’m gonna hit the ground, And I never sing at you, And I never want to be here, Everything moves at once, I can’t hear the tune out she says, I would only dance with you all out, If that would make sense, But I know that I’m not quiet with everyone, To dance alone with only socks, Missed I think, pretend, own, flickering like a Beast And everything’s a feat, Falling down touching feet, But I could just stick alone and there’s only one left, And I can’t outrun this night, Can’t outrun this night, Can’t outrun this night, And I can’t outrun this night, Can’t outrun this night, Can’t outrun this night, Ahhhhh Give me some lines Tell us, light fades on me Lines, give me some lines Give up my face on this da a ance

The rain is falling on the ground, It makes love to the wonders of the Earth, The phone is ringing in your eyes, So go out to catch the bus to Perth, But if you wait for a while, All of the phones will stop ticking, for a minute, Then you can go in a flash, and end up with trash, And be dying to come back and swim it, All of these years, All kinds of animals, They breathe most of your breath, All of these cheers, All of these glasses and toasts, Polish your cheeks and caress, The rain keeps falling on the ground, It dries up all the grass around, Your arm is breaking out the cast, Been told to fold and it was going to last, But if you hold on a flash, and go break your fast, Someone will sweep up the plaster, And if you hold on a while, and go check your files, You'll break fast with all of the answers, The shorter the years, The less there are animals, They breathe less of your breath, The cranking of gears, The swinging of pendulums, The ringing of toasts well done

Don’t ask for a million dollars cause I’ll just bring you bread, But I guarantee that it’s the best darn bread that you will ever have, Don’t ask for a million dollars cause I’ll just bring you bread, But I guarantee that it’s the best darn bread that you will ever have, Today Today Today Today Don’t ask for a thousand million basic ind ideas, The photo’s keeping a want, a want, all for all these years, Don’t ask to be looking out at all those ancient times, Cause I’ll just walk alone along these walls from time to time, Roaming today Roaming today Roaming today Roaming today I wanna share a million things with you, I wanna share a million things with you, I wanna shout a million things with you, I wanna believe in a million things you do, Today Today Today Today

She put a rope, Around her neck, And they pulled, Ever so slowly, And she died, About a year later, But she died, With millions and their parents, But she died, With millions and their parents,

about

After a handful of years of city dwelling, Mckell, burned out on traffic and smog, returned to his hometown of Ormstown to live. The slowing of pace allowed him to discover the farm wilderness, walks, solitude, and the muse. Recorded with a multiplex of borrowed analog gear and a rented 4-track, the resulting collection of songs became a sort of ode to his home, the musical zeitgeist of the time, and the friends and family around him.

This pre internet, pop folk, lo-fi recording from the turn of the century was originally minimally released on dubbed cassettes with home-made covers. Probably about 50-60 made it out into the world at the time. Most of them landed in the hands of friends and family but some were handed out as gifts to people who would pick him up while hitchhiking around Canada. They became a whimsical calling card wherever he went.

Now for the first time in twenty years, the rambling and eclectic 'Sad Plantation Land' is available in a re-mixed and re-mastered digital format with all its home-spun wonder still intact...
